History of Achievement
The Charles Drew Medical Society (Drew Medical Society) was established in 1958, and has made lasting impacts in the community through development of some of the most distinguished medical practices and healthcare organization in California and the Western United States. Our members have served as Presidents of the National Medical Association, have founded and/or co-founded preeminent national and international medical societies, such as the Association of Black Cardiologists, Association of Black Women Professionals, Society of Black Academic Surgeons, and the Society of Black Vascular Surgeons.
Our members have made tremendous accomplishments in healthcare, wherein they have served as Presidents of the Los Angeles County Medical Association, President of the Medical Board of California, and as a recipient of a U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award

In addition, the Charles R. Drew Medical Society was the organizer of Charles R. Drew University and the first regional Sickle Cell Center in California.
Each of us can make a positive difference if we commit ourselves to do so.
